Luna Jiayi Yu, a Chinese Canadian artist based in Vancouver, Canada/Pittsburgh, PA, studying BHA (Global Studies & Fine Art) in Carnegie Mellon University.

Yu is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, identity, and the ways personal experiences are reconstructed over time. Working across painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and animation, she draws from childhood imagery, personal photographs, familiar objects, and fragments of everyday visual culture.

Drawing inspiration from Modern Artists such as Egon Schiele and Pablo Ruiz Picasso, to Modern Contemporary Artists Jianjun An (安建军) and wangjieyuxi (望结裕希), Yu is interested in intimate imagery, ambiguous narratives, and expressive visual language. In her paintings, Yu often explores what happens when we break the rules of representation; Rather than controlled or precise lines, she uses loose, intuitive forms, and distortion to present emotion on the canvas.
